How to Find the Best Nicotine Level for Your E-Cig

While the specific reason for why each individual chooses to use e-cigarettes can vary widely, many individuals look to them as a way to help them quit smoking[1].  Because of this, it is helpful to understand that e-liquids come with different nicotine levels, which allows you to either taper it down to absolutely no nicotine at all, or at least to a level that you feel good about.  So how do you find the best nicotine level for your e-cigarette?

Finding the Best Nicotine Level

First of all, it’s important to understand that the number of different nicotine strengths vary by e-cigarette company.  Some may carry three different levels of nicotine strengths, while others may carry seven different levels of nicotine strengths.  Since most individuals switch from tobacco cigarettes to e-cigarettes, their prior cigarette experience can help them to find a starting point from which they will be able to fine-tune the best nicotine level for their e-cig.  For example, an individual who smokes ten or less ultra-light cigarettes a day, they may want to begin with a 4 mg nicotine strength; an individual who smokes more than ten ultra-light cigarettes a day may want to begin with an 8 mg nicotine strength; an individual who smokes twenty or less ultra-light cigarettes or ten or less light cigarettes a day may want to begin with an 11 mg nicotine strength; an individual who smokes more than ten light cigarettes a day may want to begin with an 18 mg nicotine strength; an individual who smokes twenty to thirty full-flavor cigarettes a day may want to begin with a 24 mg nicotine strength; and an individual who smokes multiple packs of full-flavor cigarettes a day may want to begin with a 36 mg nicotine strength.  Those individuals who don’t smoke every day but simply enjoy the hand-to-mouth sensation provided by smoking can choose e-liquids that are entirely nicotine free.

It may also be desirable to have several different nicotine strengths at hand to cope with varying moods and craving levels.  Once you have found the nicotine strength that works well to suit your needs and desires, you may very well discover vaping to be a pleasant alternative to tobacco smoking, and one that provides you will many more flavor options.  Good luck!
