Even as vaping becomes increasingly popular, some individuals wonder what the attraction is. Vapers often assert, and many health professionals confirm, that there are many health and other benefits[1] to making the switch from tobacco smoking to vaping. Vaping may not be as simple as tobacco smoking, but once you understand the basics and the different type of vapes available, you may discover that you have far more options than tobacco smokers.
Different Kinds of Vapes
There are two main types of vaporizers–a desktop vaporizer and a portable vaporizer. Among these two main types are many variations, including different shapes and sizes, attachments, temperature ranges, and controls, etc. Choosing the right unit and accessories for the best vaping experience depends largely upon what you plan to vaporize. Desktop vaporizers are highly recommended if you are vaping herbs since not many portable vaporizers can actually do this as well. Here is a further breakdown of the different kinds of vapes and their strengths:
- Desktop vaporizers. These units have to remain plugged in to work, so they are normally always kept at home and they work very well for individuals who mostly only smoke at home anyway. Desktop vaporizers are powerful units, and despite their lack of portability are often highly liked for their ability to deliver the biggest hits possible in vaporizers. They can be made of plastic, wood or metal and normally operate through convection vaping, which means air is heated and pushed past whatever is being vaped. They are known for being more efficient than portable vaporizers that use conduction to heat because they heat more evenly and tend to deliver better flavor as a result.
- Portable vaporizers. These units run off batteries (either internal or external, automatic or manual) and are smaller, hand-held units that can be carried with the user. Even though they aren’t considered to be as powerful as desktop units, they are a good choice for individuals who prefer to vape on-the-go. Some portables can even use convection heating, but many use conduction heating, which can lead to uneven vaping of dry herbs. However, they can work very well if you are interested in vaping concentrated e-juices.
Whatever you choose, you should make very sure to do all of your research beforehand to determine what will work best for you. If you prefer convenience and plan only to vape concentrated e-juices, a portable vaporizer designed to your specific needs should work perfectly.
